Ella Mae Day, 72, of Ripplemead, departed this life Monday evening March 4, 2013 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Born in West Virginia on September 30, 1940 she was a daughter of the late Charles Taylor and Annie Kate Lucas Manning. She was a 1958 Graduate of Pembroke High School and had been employed at Hubble Lighting in Christiansburg. She was a Christian, raised in the nurture of the Olean Church of The Brethren at Goldbond and currently was a member of Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead. Ella Mae was preceded in death by her brothers Dewey and Charles Jr. Manning; her sisters Helen Osborne, Cardella Brown, Sarah Pippin, and Virgie Snider; and her nephews Brian and Steve Manning.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband of fifty-three years Dewey E Day; her sons Jeff Day of Ripplemead, Kevin Day and his wife Brenda of Ripplemead; his daughter and son-in-law Jeanette and Kevin Martin of Ripplemead; her grandchildren Ashley Day Wills (Jon), Amber Martin, Cory Martin, Josh Day, Zane T. Martin, Zoie Day, and Ashton Day; her three great-granddaughters Madisyn Wills, Jemma Atwood, and Sadie Wills; her brother Ricky Manning and his wife Debbie of Pembroke; and beloved nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.
Graveside services will be conducted at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, Thursday morning at 11:00 am with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. At Ella Mae’s request there will be no public viewing/visitation time. The Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke is in charge of the arrangements.
