Louise Maxine Barnett, 83, of Eggleston and lately of Christiansburg, departed this life Monday evening, December 3, 2012 after a long illness. Born in Pembroke on June 20, 1929 she was a daughter of the late George and Florence Ratcliffe Barnett. She was retired from the Celanese Plant after 37 years of service, attended the First Christian Church in Pearisburg, and was a member of the Pearis Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star having served as Worthy Matron and Conductress. Louise also helped her husband operate the family store at Eggleston. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Howard E. Barnett, her sisters Ruth Ann Reynolds, Mary Evans, Nora Lee Lang and her brothers Glen (Pete) Barnett, Carroll Barnett, Preston Barnett, and Roy Barnett.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Kathy Barnett Mills of Christiansburg; her grandchildren David Ratcliff (Rebecca), Sherry Brown (James), Sandra Van Nest (Gregory); her great-grandchildren Mesa Ratcliff, Dayton Brown, Spencer Van Nest, Emma Brown, Zachary Ratcliff, Sara Brown, Eleanor Van Nest; her brothers Bobby Barnett, Jim Barnett; and her sisters Elsie Stephens, Virginia Pratt, Christine (Peggy) Short.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
