Elmer Middleton, 73, of Chestnut St., Pearisburg, departed this life Sunday afternoon, October 7, 2012 at Riverview Nursing Home, Rich Creek after a long illness. Born on August 18, 1939 in Harlan County, KY he was a son of the late Walter and Birdie Cloud Middleton. He was a faithful member of Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead, a veteran of the U S Navy, and was retired from the Celanese plant at Narrows. He was preceded in death by his sister Nadine Sargent.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Earthel Johnson “Sue” Middleton; his sons and daughters-in-law Randal Eugene and Gail Dunford of Loveland, Ohio, Mark Anthony and Becky Middleton of Floyd; his brother J B Middleton of Mt Pleasant, TX; his grandchildren Jacob, Mary, and Joshua Middleton; an d a special “grandson” Logan Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 am in Riverview Baptist Church, Ripplemead with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg with military graveside services by American Legion Post 311 Pembroke, 68 Narrows, 145 Peterstown and VFW Post 6000 Narrows. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm. The family suggests that cut flowers be omitted due to family allergies, however green dish gardens and silk flowers are welcome or charitable contributions especially Riverview Baptist Church School of the Bible.
