Donald Gene Guynn, 77, of Narrows, departed this life Wednesday evening, April 11, 2012 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg after a long illness. Born in Rich Creek on December 28, 1934, he was a son of the late William Joseph and Annie Ethel Harvey Guynn. Donald was a good and kind man who made life better for all those around him. He was a twelve year veteran of the U S Army; worked at the Celanese Celco Plant at Narrows for forty-three years; and was an avid NASCAR racing fan, and a totally Ford man. A member of a large family, he was preceded in death by his parents; his son Donald Gene Guynn, Jr.; his brothers Paul, Carl, Earl, Joe, Dave, and Robert Guynn; and his sisters Blanche Guynn and Ruby Miller.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of fifty-one years Mary Jane Croy Guynn; his son Marc Alden Guynn and Sonthaya Foster of Troutville; his daughter Anne C. Chambers and Barry Chambers of Narrows; his brothers Frank Marvin Guynn of Narrows, Myron Delbert Guynn, Sr. of Rich Creek, and Merrill Guynn of Rich Creek; his grandchildren Samantha Foster (Nathaniel Weikle), Sarah Johnson (Ryan), B J Chambers (Jessica), Kimberly Tilley (Randy); his great-grandchildren Braylen Johnson, Caleb Tilley, Chandler Tilley, Evelyn and Vivian Chambers.
Memorial services will be conducted Sunday, April 15, 2012 in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow Street, Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6 until 8 pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to Victory Junction, 1500 Adamís Way, Randleman, NC 27917 (to benefit childrenís needs).
