James Lloyd Ferrel (Jimmy), 75, of Pembroke, departed this life Tuesday, August 9, 2011 in the care of Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek. Born in Pearisburg on July 30, 1936, he grew up in the Johns Creek Community of Craig County, a son of the late LeRoy Wilson Ferrel, and Nellie Snider Ferrel Parcell, and step-son of the lateTobe Parcell. He was a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, New River Ward in Pembroke, had been employed at Virginia Tech, and was a Number One Virginia Tech Fan and loved to watch The Hokies play football. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert William Ferrel, his step sons Barry Gene Martin and Gary Dean Martin.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of forty-eight years (married September 13, 1962 in York, SC) Margie Williams Ferrel, his sister-in-law Frances Ferguson Ferrel of Forest, VA; his five step-grandchildren and several beloved nieces, nephews and family of friends at Riverview Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 2:00 pm in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, New River Ward, Pembroke with Bishop Gary Scott and Elder Brandon Webb presiding. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 2 pm before the service.
