Nana Laverne Keffer, 67, of Keffer Lane, Goldbond departed this life Friday afternoon at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke after a short illness. Born in Roanoke on August 24, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Robert Carlton and Nellie Jernell Saunders. She had been employed at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg and was preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Keffer.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son Randy Bower of Tennessee; her sister Toby Cooper of Roanoke; her brother Robert Saunders of Rocky Mount, her two grandchildren and her special friend Marvin Gautier of Pembroke; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted Monday at 6 PM in the Church of God of Prophecy in Narrows with Pastor Jim Hagy officiating. The family will receive friends at the church after the services.
