Minnie Blevins Williams, 91, of Pembroke and Blacksburg departed this life Sunday evening, December 12, 2010 at Lewis-Gale Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg. She was a resident at the Kroontje Health Care Center in Blacksburg. Minnie was born on May 21, 1919 in Jeffferson, NC as the oldest daughter of Charles M and Beulah Hurlely Blevins. She was preceded in death by her husband Belmont Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sisters Virginia Williams of Salem and Elizabeth Puckett (Charles) of Bluefield, VA and several dear and devoted friends. She was active in both the Methodist and Christian Churches for many years and involved in numerous civic organizations and community activities in Giles County. Minnie was an artistic quilter for over sixty years, loving each stitch and pattern.
There will be a private graveside service in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg with no public visitation time. The family requests that flowers be omitted and would like to thank all of those who cared for her at Warm Hearth Village and Lewis-Gale Montgomery Regional Hospital. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to Warm Hearth Village, Blacksburg, VA 24060. The funeral arrangements are with the Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke.
