Woodie Lee Sanders, 77, of the Trigg Community at Pearisburg died Wednesday evening May 25, 2005 at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg. Born at Kimballton on September 19, 1927 he was a son of the late Walter Dexter and Birdie Rosezena Collins Sanders. He was a member of Wesleys Chapel United Methodist Church in Trigg, was retired from Virginia Lime Co at Kimballton and was a devoted Giles Co. Farmer and went to the Narrows Cattle Market religiously. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Annie Niece Sanders, three brothers David, Silas, and Oakley and a sister Hazel Hilton.
He leaves to cherish his memory three sons Willard Sanders, Sherwood Sanders and his wife Joyce, and Bobby Sanders all of Trigg; five grandchildren Timmy, Justin, Willie, Bobby,Jr., Michael and his wife Stephanie Sanders; three great-grandchildren Jessica, Brianna, and Sarina Sanders; two brothers Samuel Sanders and Daniel Sanders of Pembroke; three sisters Leona Combs of Pembroke, Naomi Merrix of Ripplemead, Birdie Cumbee of Pembroke.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 AM in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor David Olinger and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
