Melvin Walter Tate, 53, of Thornspring Road in Pulaski, departed this life for his heavenly home Friday evening, June 25, 2010 being in the loving care of his family at home. Born in Pearisburg on April 20, 1957, he was a son of the late Clifton S. and Frances Wall Tate. Melvin grew up at Narrows in the Clendennin Community and was raised in the nurture of The Jesus Church (Bethel Chapel). He had been employed early in life at Roller Floral in Pearisburg and later at Renfro in Pulaski. He worshiped at New Life Tabernacle in Pulaski and loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of thirty years, Katrinia Sarver Tate; his son Marty Eugene Tate of the home; his daughter and son-in-law Mary Lynn and Paul Davis of Pulaski; his granddaughter Savannah Nichole Davis; his brother and sister-in-law Cleveland and Kathy Tate of Narrows; his sisters and brothers-in-law Alma T. and Frankie Warden of Pulaski and Monica Leigh and Charles Sanders of Narrows; and a host of relatives, friends and church family.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 PM in Bethel Chapel Church in the Clendennin Community near Narrows with Pastor Eddie Kendall, Pastor Lathan Gravely and Pastor Tom Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the church two hours before the services.
