Betty Jean Williams, 81, of Pembroke, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 20, 2010, in the loving presence of her family at Skyline Manor in Floyd. Betty was born in Logan, WV on April 22, 1928 and was a daughter of the late Frank and Mabel (Dine) McGuire Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin McKinley (Buster) Williams, a sister Shirley Simpkins and two brothers Buren and Wayne Williams. She was a member of the Graduating Class of 1945, Pembroke High School, Corncutters. For many years she attended and was the pianist for the Pembroke Assembly of God and in later years attended Faith Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church in Pearisburg.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children Barry (Wanda St Clair) Williams of Trigg, Mike (Anna Lee Cox) Williams of Pembroke and Sharon Kirby of Maryville, TN; her eight grandchildren Anita (Todd) Perdue, Tammy (Sonny) Frazier, Mickey (Suzanne) Williams, Brian (Mandy) Kirby, Eddie Williams, Jennifer (David) Benson, Kelley (Micah) Steel and BJ (Melissa) Williams; and her sixteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St, Pembroke with Pastor Eddie Kendall and Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
