William Hall Lucas

William Hall “Pete” Lucas, (known to many as “Peter Rabbit”), 80, of Big Stony Creek Road in Ripplemead, departed this life Saturday evening, September 26, 2009, at his home after a long illness. Born in Giles County on January 14, 1929, he was a son of the late Chap and Mary Lou Ratcliff Lucas. Pete was retired from Superior Carriers as a driver and dispatcher. He was a veteran of the U S Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Robin Gail Lucas, three brothers Ronald “Pakey” Lucas, Sonny Lucas, and Russell Lucas, and by three sisters Buelah “Boots” McCroskey, Cynthia Robbins, and Alice Haggy.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 53 years Phyllis Hilton Lucas; three children Stanley and wife Vickie Lucas of Pembroke, Sheila Condrey of South Carolina, and Joyce Lucas of the home; five grandchildren Courtney Roberts and Heather Condrey of South Carolina, Amanda Armstrong and Ashley Armstrong of Pearisburg, and Casey Lucas of Pembroke; two great-granddaughters Haleigh Roberts of South Carolina and Kaitlyn Lucas of Pearisburg; a sister Louella “Jody” Hall of Rich Creek; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted Monday at 3:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St, Pembroke, with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours before the services. Online condolences may be sent by visiting kendallfuneralhome.com
