Lacy Edward Talbert, 76, of Hightop Road in Blacksburg, departed this life Tuesday evening, December 23, 2004 at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg after suffering a stroke. Born in Giles County on October 18, 1932 he was a son of the late Lacy Elix and Julia Frances Bruce Talbert. He had been employed with Virginia Department of Highways and on bridge construction. He was a veteran of the U S Army, Korean War , was of the Pentecostal Faith, and was preceded in death by a brother William Alonzo Talbert.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of Forty Years, Hilda Lilly Talbert; his daughters Frances T. Turner of Waynesboro, Beverly Darlene Green of Pearisburg, Katherine T. Midkiff of Pearisburg; his sons Billy Talbert of Washington State, Lacy E. Talbert, Jr. of Christiansburg, Lawrence E. Talbert of Pulaski; his sister Mary T. Mann of Ohio; his eight grandchildren, and his five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 26, 2008 at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor Eddie Kendall and Pastor W. P. Turpin officiating. Burial will follow in the Shannon-King Cemetery at Poplar Hill. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours before the services.
