Dorothy Ann Timberlake

Dorothy Ann Timberlake, 83, of Mason Court, Pearisburg, departed this life Friday morning, September 12, 2008 at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg after a short illness. Born in Bluefield, WV on July 4, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Richard Henry and Eva Kitts Morgan.

She was a graduate of Beaver High School, Bluefield Business College, a member of the Bluefield Drum and Bugle Corps and was crowned “Miss Bluefield”. When she came to Giles County she worked as a secretary at the Celanese Celco Plant in Narrows. At that job she met and married the love of her life, the late “Ted” Samuel G. Timberlake. She became not only his wife and love but his business partner and bookkeeper for Timberlake Hardware, and their two filling stations. She spent the best of her life taking care of Ted, their home, children and grandchildren and through her generous spirit many others in her community and the Pearisburg Presbyterian Church where she was a member and with her husband was a public servant to Giles County. “Dot” was one of the Giles High School Band Boosters most enthusiastic members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sisters Mary Williams, Elah Mills, Margaret Bailey, Nell Rogan and her brothers Richard, and Baby Henry Morgan.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters and sons-in-law Anne and Lee Wheeler of Pearisburg, Pam Conley of Pearisburg, and Kathy and Kevin Smith of Delaplane, VA; five grandchildren Morgan Maurer, Ryan Conley, Matthew Conley, Cody Smith, and Kelly Smith; her beloved caregivers and friends Rosie Conley, Mary Alice Lucas, Marie Saunders, Ashley Lucas and Sarah Spencer (hairdresser).

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 PM in Pearisburg Presbyterian Church in Pearisburg with the Pastor, The Rev. Shirley Larson and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Entombment will follow in Birchlawn Abbey in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke Saturday evening from 6 to 8 PM and Sunday at the church one hour before the services. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Pearisburg Volunteer Fire Department or the Giles Rescue Squad in Pearisburg.
