Meredith Leon “Mert” Presgraves, Jr., 55, of Bear Spring in Giles County and Dublin died Thursday October 28, 2004 at his hunting cabin at Bear Spring. Born at Luray in Page Co, VA on January 22, 1949 he was a son of the late Meredith L. Presgraves, Sr and Vinda V. Cook Presgraves. He had been employed as a painter and loved the woods and mountains where he hunted and died.
For over 38 years he had been married “to the same woman” Jeanette Campbell Presgraves, and is also survived by sons M. L. “Little Mert” Presgraves III and his wife Kaci of Savannah, GA, Christopher Shain Tickle, Timothy Randall Tickle, and Justin Brandon Presgraves all of Dublin; daughters Theresa Renae Presgraves Wallace and husband Charles D. of Pearisburg, Julie Ann Presgraves and fiancé Robert J. Beaty of Dublin, Gina Presgraves Stafford and husband Dale K. of Pearisburg; Step-mother Genievie Good of Luray; sister Carolyn P. Plunk of Dublin; half-sisters Patricia Dillenger of Vinton, Geannie Presgraves of Luray; eleven grandchildren Trey, Dakota, Charles, Brooke, Cody, Brittany, Terri, Michael, Dustyn, Shy, Nicolas, two great-grandchildren Jonathan and Ashlynn. He was preceded in death by a brother Michael Floyd Jones.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday October 31 at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following at the Mert Presgraves Cemetery at Bear Spring.
