Bueland David Stevers

Bueland David Stevers “Blue Jay”, 81, of Big Branch Hollow Road, Pembroke departed this life Saturday morning, July 26, 2008 at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek. Born in Pembroke on April 29, 1927 he was a son of the late Dexter and Pricie Link Stevers. He was a veteran of the U S Army, WW II; was retired from Virginia Department of Transportation; and was the volunteer caretaker of the Fillinger, Martin, Lucas, and Snidow Cemeteries in Pembroke. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Kathleen Whittaker, his brothers Bill, Donald, and Russell Lee Stevers, and a nephew Kermit Stevers.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Martha Ann Martin Stevers; his daughters and sons-in-law Mary and Lee Johnson of Pembroke, Sharon and Paul Suydam of Pearisburg, his grandchildren Stacy Gillispie and wife Tina, Gregory Gillispie, Lindsey Suydam, Taylor Suydam; his great granddaughter Kristen Gillispie; his brothers John Stevers of Florida, Gerald Stevers of Pembroke, Wiley Stevers of Pembroke, Lloyd Stevers of Iowa; his sister Lois Eppling of Pembroke.

Memorial services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in the Fillinger Cemetery at Pembroke.
