Hobart Daniel Martin, 93, of Lost Lane in Pearisburg went home to be with the Lord Thursday evening February 24, 2005 at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. Born in Bluff City on October 19, 1911 he was a son of the late Noah Alvis and Bell Blair Martin. He was a member of Cornerstone Pentecostal Holiness Church in Narrows and was retired from Celeanese Celco Plant where he had worked as a millwright. He was preceded in death by a son George Martin, three brothers Clyde, Elmer, and “Bud” A.P. Martin, and five sisters Myrtle Ratcliffe, Hazel Neice, Goldie Fanning, Dolly Martin, and Pearl Marshall.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Ruth Bayse Martin; three sons Gilbert Martin of Oxnard, CA, Robert Martin of Dublin and Alvis Martin of Summerfield, FL; two daughters Margaret Young of Dublin and Gladys Burton of Narrows; one sister Helen Wine of Staunton; fifteen grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 AM in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor David Roberts and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM
