Bertie Jane Blankenship, 69, of Locust St. in Narrows went to be with the Lord Monday morning January 24, 2005 at her home in the loving care of her family. Born in Rock Camp, WV on December 1, 1935 she was a daughter of the late James Frank and Bernice Canterbury Lowery. Bertie had been active and was a member of VFW Post 6000 Ladies Auxiliary and American Legion Post 68 Ladies Auxiliary.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband C.J. “Jack” Blankenship; four daughters and sons-in-law Patty and Jimmy Niece of Pembroke, Debbie and Darrell Akers of Narrows, Jackie and Melvin Dalton of Narrows, Janetta Collins of Pearisburg; a beloved sister Betty Lowery of Salem; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nephews Gary Lowery and Bill Lowery of Narrows and Charles Lowery of Salem; a niece Rosetta Neice of Ripplemead; and a “special” nephew Freddie Syrus of Narrows.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday January 27, 2005 at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
