Mattie Lee Havens, 97, of Pembroke died Friday evening January 21, 2005 at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek. Born on August 9, 1907 in Ripplemead she was a daughter of the late George William and Mellie Snow Martin Bradley. She was retired from Celanese Celco Plant and was preceded in death by her husband John M. “Tobe” Havens, two daughters Betty Jean Hammons and Sandra H. Collins and a son Millner D. Havens, sisters Bertha Conner and Talma Martin and brothers Ray Bradley, Arnold “Cub” Bradley and G.W. Bradley Jr. “Dude”.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son Gary Chester Havens of Narrows; a sister Ruth B. Meredith of Pembroke; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren. And several devoted nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor Shahn Wilburn and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM
