Paul Hassele Williams, 101, of the Hoges Chapel Community near Pembroke passed from this mortal life, Thursday, May 10, 2007 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Blacksburg, VA. He was born on March 9, 1906 in Hoges Chapel , VA, being the twelfth child of thirteen children born to Nancy Alice Martin and William Ervin Williams. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Jessie James, Martin Luther, and William Samuel Williams; nine sisters Mary Bessie Price, Sarah Esther Hensley, Blanch Maude Atkins, Willie Sue Williams (child), Mattie Eleanor Durham, Sena Velma Williams , Minnie Grace Osborne, Edna May Radford Reese, and Nancy Virginia Martin. Hundreds of nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews and in- laws who loved him very much are greatly saddened at his passing. Paul attended Giles Senior Center activities for many years. He was an avid participant in the Senior Olympics program and won many medals in the local and state levels. He was a favorite of his caregivers because of his sweet spirit and wonderful outlook on life. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday May 12, 2007 in the Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church in Hoges Chapel with Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the services.
