Joseph Clark Falls

Joseph Clark Falls, 80, of Pembroke, died Friday November 24, 2006 at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg after a short illness. He was born in Pembroke September 25, 1926 to the late Roy and Daisy Crozier Falls. He was the last of “the Falls Boys” being preceded in death by his brothers Monroe, Norman and David, his son Jody and granddaughter Meredith Renee Falls. He was a U S Navy Veteran of WW II, was an active member and past-commander of American Legion Post 311 in Pembroke, VFW Post 6000 in Narrows, and the Pembroke Ruritan Club. His service to the community and Giles High School Sports Program, especially Spartan “Single-Wingin” football was well-known and in 1987 was awarded WDBJ’s “Hometown Hero” award. He was a member of Pembroke First United Methodist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Lola Meredith Falls, a son Boyce Falls of Oxford, NC ; daughter Cathy Falls Reed of Pembroke; daughters-in-law Sonya A. Falls, Barbara H. Falls; son-in-law Walter Reed; five grandchildren Steven Falls of Salt Lake City, Utah, Lori F. Shetselaar of Christiansburg and her husband Mark, Jason Falls and his wife Jenny of Oxford, NC, Jeremy Falls of Ayden, NC Mitchell Reed and his wife Jody of Pembroke; four great-grandchildren Cole Falls, Austin Falls of Oxford, NC, Camden and Abby Reed of Pembroke.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 PM in Pembroke First United Methodist Church with entombment following in Birchlawn Abbey in Pearisburg, and graveside military rites by American Legion Post 311 and 68 and VFW Post 6000. The family received friends at the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke Saturday evening from 6 to 8 PM.. Flowers are appreciated but memorials to Pembroke First United Methodist Church Building Fund or American Legion Post 311 in Pembroke would also be appreciated.
