Alfred Wayne Williams, 74, of Pembroke passed away peacefully with all his family by his side on Monday morning December 27, 2004 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Pembroke on July 27, 1930 he was a son of the late Frank E. and Mabel McGuire Williams. He was a veteran of the U S Army, 1951-1956, and was retired from Radford Army Ammunition Plant as a boiler operator. He loved guitar playing, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, carpentry, woodworking and his family. “Dad was not only good with his hands but giving with his heart, he will be missed by his family” He was preceded in death by a sister Shirley Simpkins and a brother Buren Williams both of Pembroke.
He is survived by his wife Marcella Caldwell Williams; two daughters and sons-in-law Kimberly and David Klemperer of Hollywood, Florida and Cindy and Clay Bane of Pembroke; two sons and daughters-in-law Bruce and Brenda Williams of Pearisburg and James and Selena Williams of Pembroke; a sister Betty Williams of Ripplemead; eight very special grandchildren Carmel and Nicholas Stowers, Amber and Hannah Williams, Matthew and Aaron Bane, Lindsea and Ryan Williams.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday Dec. 30, 2004 at 2:00 PM at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg with military honors by VFW Post 6000 and American Legion Posts 311 and 68. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
