William (Bill) Ira Copeland

William Ira Copeland “Bill”, 85, of Pearisburg, departed this life Wednesday evening, December 26, 2018 at his home in the care of his devoted family and hospice. Born at Rock Camp, WV on April 5, 1933, he was a son of the late Albert L Sr. and Leona Thompson Copeland. He had been employed for 33 years as a mail carrier for the U S Postal service in Indiana and for several years at NAPA in Pearisburg. He was a graduate of Peterstown High School Class of 1951. Bill was a devout Christian and as such an active member of Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Albert L (Butch) Copeland, Jr., and stepson Mike Lusk.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Constance Maness Copeland; his children and their spouses Valarie and Scott Roberts of Indiana, Jon and Katie Copeland of Indiana, Alan and Pam Copeland of Indiana, Patricia and David Rizzuti of MA; his grandchildren Jessica, Shelby, Aaron, Chris, Kayla, McKenna, Jude, Jack, Lennon; his six great grandchildren; his step-children and spouses Judy and Greg Bower of Blacksburg, Jennifer and Carl Honaker of Pearisburg, Wendy and Aaron Boylan of Morrisville,NC; his step-grandchildren Nicholas Bower, Jonathan Lusk, Brooke and Hunter Williams, Savannah and Andy Randel, Mackenzi Honaker, Stone Boylan, Macy Boylan, Axton Boylan; four step-grandchildren and one on the way.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 7:00 pm in Riverview Baptist Church, Big Stony Creek Road, Ripplemead, with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. The family will receive friends at the church two hours before the services. Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 am in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made in Bill’s memory to JCA, 219 Big Stony Creek Road, Ripplemead, VA.
