Clyde Dewey Ratcliff, 74, of Dennis Street, Pearisburg, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, November 7, 2018, in the loving care of his family and Carilion Hospice after a hard-fought battle with cancer and other illnesses. Born in Pearisburg on April 9, 1944, he was a son of the late William Franklin and Lula Myrtle Martin Ratcliff.. Clyde was a veteran of the U S Army, retired from Giles County Public Works (landfill supervisor, dog warden, general public works) and most important of all he was a Christian and a member of Godís House Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Benny Ratcliff and his sister Shirley Bradley.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 51 years, Bonnie R. Ratcliff; his son and daughter-in-law William Franklin and Cheryl Ratcliff of Pearisburg; his daughter and son-in-law Tammy and Marty Meredith of Pembroke; his grandchildren William Cody Ratcliff and Grace Makenzie Meredith; his honorary son Michael Todd Robertson of Christiansburg; his faithful pastors David and Kathy Atkinson; his special friends for whom the family is so thankful,sister-in-law and brother-in-law Frances and Billy Farley, special neice Shelby Evans of Newport (thankful for their love and support); /Carilion Hospice Care; and home health nurses Christie, Paula, and Angie.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 at 2:00 pm in Godís House Church with Pastor Eddie Kendall and Pastor David Atkinson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church two hours before the service. Burial will follow in the Ratcliffe Cemetery in Pearisburg with military graveside honors by local VFW and American Posts and Army National Guard.
