Ronald Baber Whitehead, 86, of Pembroke, departed this life Monday afternoon, June 18, 2018 at his home in the care of his family and hospice. Born in Washington, DC on January 18, 1932, he was a son of the late Harry Whitehead and Mary B Carpenter Whitehead. He had spent his adult life in the educating of the young people of Giles County. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech, served as teacher and principal of five of the county school, served on the Giles County School Board for thirty years, served on the board for The Governorís School for over twenty years, and was a member of Castle Rock Lodge 334 AF&AM in Pembroke. He was a member of The First Christian Church in Pembroke where he fulfilled many position of leadership. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary Alice Browning Whitehead.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Darla Whitehead of Pembroke; his grandchildren Katie Whitehead and Brady Whitehead; his brother-in-law Bill Browning and his wife Neda of Pembroke.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday evening, June 22, 2018 at 7:00 pm in The Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor Reggie Britts officiating.
