Ted James Johnson, Jr., 68, passed away at his home on June 5, 2018. Teddy was born December 19, 1949 and was the son of the late Ted James Johnson, Sr. and Thelma Kirk Johnson. Teddy was elected as Commissioner of Revenue and as the Circuit Court Clerk of Giles County. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech with a BA degree in Political Science and a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Radford University. He was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he held many callings.
Ted is survived by his wife of 38 years, Pamela Taylor Johnson of Pearisburg; four daughters, Holly (Ryan) Keller of Reston, Jaime (Mark) Bunker of Pearisburg, Hannah (Josue) Rodriguez of Christiansburg, and Abby (Scott) Shillig of Greenville, SC; and one son Adam Johnson of Reston and fiancée Erika Nutting of Arlington. Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Aiden Keller, Reese, Owen, Avery, and Cragun Bunker, Nora, Maverick, and Iris Shillig and granddaughter Rodriguez due in August.
Also surviving are his sisters Patricia Johnson and Diana Johnson of Pearisburg.
He truly loved his family and will be greatly missed. Teddy fought his 2 year bout with Stage 4 Cancer to the very end.
The family will receive friends at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, New River Ward, Pembroke, VA, on Friday, June 8, 2018, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, New River Ward, Pembroke, VA, on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
