Teresa Anne Showalter, 62, of Ripplemead, departed this life Tuesday, April 17, 2018 in Charlottesville, VA. Born in Bluefield, WV on January 11, 1956 she was a daughter of Phyllis Eaves Thompson and the late John R. Fisher. She was a skilled and compassionate RN employed with UVA Health Care System, having earned her MSN in nursing. Teresa was a dynamo of energy at her work, with her beloved farm animals, as an active “dance Mom” at Dance Motion, sewing and doing all her extra chores, or attending the Ladies Sunday School Class at Riverview Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Stephen E Showallter; her sons and daughter-in-law the Rev Jason P Butler and his wife Alya of Raleigh, NC and Kurt S Marcussen of Pearisburg; her daughters Jennifer B Claytor of Pearisburg and Kristen S Marcusssen of Ripplemead; her grandchildren Luke, Emma, and Allie Butler and Heidi and Huxon Claytor; her mother Phyllis Eaves Thompson of Pearisburg; her sisters Karen L DeGraw of Ripplemead and Debbie K Journell of Ripplemead; and many truly wonderful friends and fellow nurses.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3:00 pm in Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead with The Rev Jason Butler and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the services.
