Betty Maedel Woodyard, 89, of Curve Road, Pearisburg, departed this life Monday afternoon, April 2, 2018 at Heritage Hall Rehab and Health in Rich Creek. Born on August 26, 1928, in Baltimore, MD, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Julia Ehrman Matthews. Betty was a devoted Christian who so much enjoyed entering into the worship services at church. She attended North Narrows Tabernacle and Bethel Chapel. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Robert Lawson and Cecil Woodyard, her brothers Thomas, Lewis, Jack, and Frederick Matthews, and her sisters Mary Treves, Rose Matthews, and Ellen Ambrose. She had been employed as a seamstress at Pacemaker Togs and other local sewing factories.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons and daughters-in-law Donald and Elinda Elliott of Pearisburg and Dennis and Barbara Elliott of Narrows; her grandchildren Kevin Elliott, Aaron (Angel) Elliott, Tim (Kim) Elliott, David (Angie) Elliott, Sam Bird, Kimberly Snider; her fifteen great-grandchildren; her two great-great-grandchildren; and several beloved step-children and their families.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 am in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Angels Rest Memory Gardens at Narrows. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from six until eight pm.
