“BILL” Carlton A. Blevins, 95, of Ripplemead, departed this life Saturday, September 30, 2017, at his home in the care of his family and hospice. Born in West Jefferson, NC on October 9, 1921, he was a son of the late Alray Poindexter Blevins and Nora Goodman Blevins. Bill was a veteran of the US Navy WWII, was a master automobile salesman in the Giles Area, a member of Angels Rest Lodge AF&AM in Pearisburg, a Baptist all of his life, in his last years attended Edgewood United Methodist Church with his wife near their home. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings Nan Poff, Faye Perkins, Than Blevins, and Ronnie Blevins.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife and loving caregiver for 69 years, Ruth Guthrie Blevins, his sons and daughter-in-law Gary and Susan Blevins of Flat Rock, NC and Greg Blevins of Ripplemead; his daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Don Clark of Ripplemead; his granddaughter Sarah Aardema of Ripplemead, his great grandson Tripp Aardema, and his brothers and sisters-in-law Larry and Frances Blevins of Pembroke and Paul and Margaret Blevins of Pembroke.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St. Pembroke with Pastors Eddie Kendall, Craig Whittaker, and Pam Sutherland officiating, and music by Rev Dale and Gilda Riddle. Burial will follow in The Veterans Garden at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the services.
