Edna Hypes Martin, 86, of Pearisburg, left this earth for her heavenly mansion on Thursday morning, August 24, 2017 while at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Giles County on June 13, 1931, she was an avid cook, homemaker and a devoted Christian of the Pentecostal faith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and loved one; and while she graciously fulfilled many roles, she was affectionately known by most as “Granny”. She was welcomed into Heaven by her loving husband of 61 years, William F. Martin, of Giles. She was also reunited with her mother, Mattie Hypes Mosburg, her sister and brother-in-law Eleanor and Roy Newby, her sister and brother-in-law Hazel and Minor Bowles all of Giles County and her brother and sister-in-law Lee Roy and Ruby Hypes of the Richmond Area and James Hypes. She was also reunited with many in-laws as well.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her daughter Geraldine Shaver, her son Larry Martin and Lisa all of Pearisburg, her son Ronnie and Melody Martin of Wytheville, her granddaughters Debra Conley of Pearisburg, Rachel and Boyd Kading of Austinville, Rebekah and Roger Howard of Wytheville and Natasha Martin of Pearisburg, She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Chanler Bandy and Amber Conley, both of Pearisburg, Will Arnold and Journie Kading both of Austinville, and Micah, Caleb, Honor, Keigan and Calvary Howard of Wytheville. She is also survived by one sister Joyce and Frank Longrie of Pearisburg, one sister-in-law Mary Martin of Dublin and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family invites loved ones and friends to join us on Monday, August 28 for her visitation at noon followed by her funeral service at 2:00 pm at Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow Street, Pembroke with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating.
