Ida Elizabeth Roberts, 94, of Pembroke and formerly of Dinwiddie County departed this life Thursday morning, June 15, 2017 in the care of Heritage Hall in Rich Creek. Born in Halifax County on January 9, 1923 she was a daughter of the late John Gordon and Mary Louise Coleman Snead. She had attended Smithdale-Massey College, was employed at the Dept of the Army at Camp Pickett and Fort Lee and later as a teacherís assistant in Caroline County. Elizabeth was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she had actively fulfilled her callings in the New River Ward in Pembroke, the Tappahannock, and Fredericksburg Wards also. She was preceded in death by her husbands Herbert Lee Smith and Hoyt Kennedy Roberts, and a son Keith L Roberts.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters and sons-in-law Mary Gordon Andrews Charlie B of Pembroke, Suzanne Cranford Upshaw and Woodie of Mechanicsville and Sharon Casey of Toxie, AL; her sons and daughters-in-law Milton Eugene Smith and Darlene of Richmond, John Kennedy Roberts and Peggy of Port Royal, William Graham Roberts and Janette of Bowling Green and Douglas Conrad Roberts of Cocoa Beach, FL; her eighteen grandchildren, her fourteen great-grandchildren; and her sister Nancy S Winn of Chesterfield.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday, June 19, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Mansons Church Cemetery at McKenney in Dinwiddie County followed by LDS Dedication Of The Grave.
