ELMER LEEMORE COLLINS “Buddy”, 73, of Buckmaster Lane, Pembroke, departed this life Tuesday morning, March 21, 2017, at his home. Born in Giles County on January 6, 1944, he was a son of the late Rassie and Mary Williams Collins. Elmer had worked as a carpenter early in life and retired from Federal Mogul in Christiansburg where he worked as a materials handler. He was a veteran of the U S Army serving during the Viet Nam Era after graduating from Giles High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Marshall, Robert, Richard, Clyde, and Rassie Collins and his sisters Mamie Merrix and Susie Caldwell.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 45 years, Patty Bailey Collins; his son Elmer Eugene Collins of Pembroke; his daughter Patricia Darlene Cecil (Jeff) of Pembroke; his eight grandchildren; his one great-grandchild; his brother Clinton “June Bug” Collins of Pembroke; his sisters Eloise Martin of Pembroke, Virginia Collins of Pembroke, Marie “Dolly” Janney (Bobby) of Pearisburg and Josephine Dowdy of Pearisburg.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 24, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with burial following in the Clover Hollow Cemetery at Newport.
