Jewel Miller Radford, 78, of Big Stoney Creek passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at his home. Born May 26, 1938, he was the son of the late Kemper Radford and Edna Mae Williams Radford Reece of Pembroke. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant sister, Edna Azell Radford, and brother, William Powell Radford. Jewel retired after 20 years of service as the Maintenance Supervisor at Virginia Tech Power House. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and had attended Concord College where he played football and baseball.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 55 years, Phyllis Cole Radford; son, Gary Van Radford, daughter by marriage, Kim, and their children, Alayna and Hunter of Blacksburg; daughter, Sonya Radford Meekins and her children, Cindy and Ariel of Pembroke; daughter, Monica Radford Bailey and her husband, Darrick, and their children, Chantelle and Tiarra of Fayetteville, North Carolina; brother, Donnie Lee Radford, and sister, Nannie Lou Martin, both of Pembroke; and countless family, friends and hunting buddies at The Woodcutter's Lodge. He lived well, was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
Graveside service will be 4:00 PM, Thursday, September 1, 2016 at The Woodcutters Lodge, Ripplemead, VA with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Jewel’s home by 3:00 PM, Thursday. Friends may gather at the home all week.
