Etta Mae Johnston, 65, of Eggleston Road, Eggleston, departed this life Friday morning, February 5, 2016 at Lewis-Gale Montgomery Hospital in Blacksburg. Born in Bath County on July 29, 1951, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Alvis and Margaret Dolly Shepherd Ryder. Etta was a devoted homemaker and mother, a 1971 graduate of Giles High School, and a member of Green Valley United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dannie Eugene Johnston.
She leaves to cherish her memory her three children Shirley Ann Moore of Pearisburg, Phillip Eugene Johnston of Denver, CO, and William Jackson Johnston of Eggleston; her grandsons Andrew Bernard, Camron Moore and Isaac Moore; her sisters Margarette Snow of Thaxton, Violet Hamblin of North Carolina, and Rhoda Robin Quesenberry of Pulaski; and a host of friends and relatives who loved Etta so much.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday February 7, 2016 at 4:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St. Pembroke with Eddie Kendall and Bob Evans officiating. Burial will be Monday morning at 11:00 am in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Dublin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours before the services.
