Todd Edward Smith

Todd Edward Smith, 51, of Hillcrest Dr.,Bluefield, VA, departed this life Thursday evening, January 7, 2016 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA after a short illness. Born in Petersburg, VA on October 30, 1964, he was a son of Louise Clark Williams and the late Charles Edward Smith. Todd was a 1982 graduate of Giles High School, a 1986 graduate of Concord College, had been employed as credit manager for wholesale firms, and lately had been privileged to work in the construction business with his beloved cousin Mark Clark. He was preceded in death by his father Charles E Smith, his step-father Alvin Williams, and his mother-in-law Edna Williams. Todd was an avid Hokie fan known on the radio for his commentary on Virginia Tech as “VTSmitty” and as a funny and always warm friend.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Carol Williams Smith; his daughter Abigail Smith of the home; his mother Louise Clark Williams of Blacksburg; his brothers and sisters-in-law Kevin C. and Kathy T. Smith of Delaplane, VA and Jerry and Margaret Williams of Marshall, VA; his sister Jeannie Smith Lewis of Hopewell, VA; his father-in-law Thurman Williams of Bluefield, VA; his niece and nephew Kelly Smith and Cody Smith of Gaithersburg, MD; his sisters-in-law Linda and husband Derrick Felts and Cynthia and husband Mark Owens all of Bluefield, VA.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 11, 2016, at 11:00 am at Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead, VA with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow Street in Pembroke, Sunday evening from 5 until 8 pm.
