James Edward Day, 84, of Cascade Drive, Pembroke, departed this life Wednesday evening, July 1, 2015 at Highland Ridge Health Care in Dublin. Born at Interior in Giles County on July 2, 1930 he was a son of the late Thomas Jackson and Roba Collins Day. Ed was a member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church at Hoges Chapel, a veteran of the U S Army during the Korean Conflict, and was retired from Virginia Tech. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Peggy Williams Day, his parents, his sister Lillie Hodge, his brothers Gene, Paul, Thomas, Jr., Robert and Bill Day.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son and daughter-in-law Gary Arnold and Patty Rankin Day of Dublin; his daughters and sons-in-law Barbara Dale Day and Jim Dixon of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Crystal Dawn and Andy Tawney of Pearisburg; his grandchildren Thomas Edward and his wife Hunter Morgan Day, MaKayla Morgan Tawney, Wyatt Taylor Tawney; his great-granddaughter Nora Grace Day; his brothers Dewey Day of Goldbond and Walter Day of Appomatox; his sisters Geralean Mabe of Ridgeway, Dorothy Skroblus of Utah, and Martha Baisden of Christiansburg.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg with military graveside honors by local VFW and American Legion Posts and the Army National Guard.
