Matthew Francis Komelski, 74, of Narrows, departed this life Wednesday morning, November 19, 2014, at the home of his daughter in Roanoke in the loving care of his family and hospice. Born in Luzerne, PA on November 17, 1940, he was a son of the late Mateusz and Victoria Czakroskie Komelski. He was a devout member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Pearisburg and was a seventeen year veteran of the U S Marine Corps serving in Viet Nam. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Johnnie, Bernard, Edward, Joseph, and Stanley, and his sisters Mae, Katia, Norma, Theodora, and Bernadette.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved and devoted wife Carolyn MaHoney Komelski; his sons Matthew F. Komelski (Kyoko) of Blacksburg, William Joseph Komelski (Kali) of Willis, Ohio; his daughter Regina K. Montgomery (Joseph) of Roanoke; his seven grandchildren, and his sisters Janet Sterling of Kingsburg, NJ and Regina Burcha of Plains, PA.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Thursday, November 20, 2014, at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Pearisburg with Father Charles Breindel as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin with military honors by the National Guard and the American Legion. The family requests that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 516 Mason Court, Pearisburg, VA 24134.
