Betty Jane Williams

Betty Jane Williams, 82, of Hoges Chapel, Pembroke, departed this life Friday morning, November 14, 2014 at Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. Born in Goodwin’s Ferry on September 2, 1932 she was a daughter of the late Albert Eugene and Violet Thornhill Duncan. She had been employed as a retail clerk earlier in life but majored in being a homemaker for her family. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, New River Ward, in Pembroke and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lyman R. Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children and their families Larry Jay Williams and Becky of Pembroke, Garry and Carolyn Williams of Newport, and Gala and Bob Daley of Bakersfield, CA; her daughter-in-law Mary S. Williams of Pembroke; her grandchildren Jessie (Daphane) Williams, Kerry Williams, Rachel (Carl) Mann Deanna (Ryan) Starbuck, Natalie (Justin) Page; her great-grandchildren Kylie, William, Caroline, Taylor, Clayton and also Mattie, Laken, Parker, and Peyton; her very special friend Bill Staples; her brother Andrew Duncan of Pembroke; her nephew Dennis (Susan) Duncan; her brother and sisters-in-law Bill and Mary Lois Williams, Jane Williams; her good and helpful neighbors Jane Smith, Pat Whittaker, Susan Valeah, and her little dog Maggie.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 4:00 pm in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, New River Ward, in Pembroke, with Bishop Darren Jones presiding. Burial will follow in the Williams Cemetery at Hoges Chapel. The family will receive friends at the church between 2 and 4 pm before the services. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to The Pembroke Charity in care of Pembroke Telephone Cooperative, Pembroke, VA.
