Lillie Florence (Toy) Meadows, 87, of Narrows, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ from Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek on Thursday afternoon November 17, 2005,surrounded by her loving children and family. Born in Giles County on April 4, 1918 she was a daughter of the late William Harve and Minnie Houston Thomas Mills. Toy gave her heart to the Lord in 1932 at the age of fourteen and was the oldest person in membership at Bethel Chapel Church in the Clendennin Community. She was preceded in death by her husbands T. A. “Slick” Taylor and Onie Meadows; four brothers Garfield, Charlie, Walter, and David Mills; five sisters Lelia Clark, Callie Mae Elledge, Nona Morris, Edna Berry, and Mary Lou Mills.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons and daughters-in-law Andrew T. “Buster” Taylor and his wife Carol of Narrows, Ricky L. Taylor and his wife Sandy of Narrows; two daughters and son-in-law Peggy Darlene Stafford and her husband John of Narrows and Phyllis “Susie’ Harvey of Chesterfield; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and the loving children and grandchildren of Onie Meadows, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday November 20, 2005 at 2:00 PM in Bethel Chapel Church in Clendennin with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke Saturday evening from 6 to 8 PM. The family would like to express their profound gratitude to the caring staff at Riverview Nursing Home and a special thanks to Dr. Kenneth Walker for his care and friendship to Toy.
