Walter Cleveland Tickle, 86, of Pembroke went home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday morning November 16, 2005 from Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek. Born in Giles Co. on January 12, 1919 he was a son of the late Walter Wingfield and Latha Fisher Tickle. He was a faithful member for many years of The Pembroke Assembly of God Church and was retired from the cafeteria staff at the Celanese Celco Plant at Narrows. He was preceded in death by his precious wife and mother of his children Kathleen Sutphin Tickle; a sister Laura T. Tabor; and brothers Noah Miller, Jack, Joe, Frank, Lyle, and Wallace Tickle;
He leaves to cherish his memory his sons and daughters-in-law Lester C. and Loretta M. Tickle and J. Arnold and Doris K. Tickle all of Pembroke; a daughter Edna Marie Terry of Radford; three brothers George and wife Evangeline Tickle of Pembroke; Guy and Shirley Tickle of Ripplemead; Jerry Tickle of Roanoke; nine grandchildren Jeffery and wife Kathy, Todd and wife Jamye Tickle, Tina Gillespie and husband Stacey, Tonya Lucas and husband Charles, Timothy Tickle, Jason Tickle, Ashley Lamb and wife Karen, Scott Lamb and wife Anita, Herbie Terry and eleven great-grandchildren Adriana Tickle, Kristin Gillispie, Kathleen Lamb, Kenny Lamb, Jordan Lamb, Joshua Lamb, Susanne Tickle, Vincent Tickle, Ansel Tickle, Annalyse Tickle, Kaci Elizabeth Funk; and sister-in-law Blanche Tickle of Pembroke, and many nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 PM in The Pembroke Assemby of God Church , E. Virginia Ave. in Pembroke
with Pastors Jesse Bass and Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St .in Pembroke Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to The Pembroke Assemby of God Building Fund.
